Joint collection about Ibsen 2028

On Tuesday, June 2, representatives from the Main Committee for Culture, Tourism and Volunteering in Telemark County Municipality and the Committee for Inclusion, Volunteering and Culture in Skien Municipality met for a joint meeting about Ibsen 2028. The goal was to provide information about the plans for the anniversary and lay the foundation for further collaboration.

The day started in Ibsengården, where participants received information about the current use of the building and the plans for the development of both house and garden in the future. This was followed by the humorous city walk The Mystery of Ibsen , which gave participants a different perspective on Henrik Ibsen's upbringing and connection to Skien.

At Telemarkshuset, participants gained insight into Ibsen's life and writings, the National Library's role in the national anniversary work, and the status of the planning for Ibsen 2028 in Skien and Telemark. The project management presented current plans and initiatives, and showed how various institutions and actors are collaborating to develop a diverse anniversary program.

The meeting concluded with group discussions about the way forward.

An anniversary that can leave a mark

Head of the Committee for Inclusion, Volunteering and Culture, Marjan Farahmand, believes that the gathering gave a clear picture of the exciting plans that are under development leading up to Ibsen 2028.

– When the county council, the municipality, cultural actors and volunteers stand together, we create a strong foundation for an anniversary that can leave a lasting mark, says Farahmand.

Head of Culture in Skien Municipality, Guro Honningdal, emphasizes that there are many exciting things happening locally, regionally and nationally in the run-up to the anniversary year.

– The meeting gave politicians in the municipality and county insight into several of the plans that are under development. We look forward to the continuation, says Honningdal.
