The Norske Ibsenkompaniet sets up Henrik Ibsen's Brand in Fjæreheia Amfi between 20 and 28 July.
In Grimstad this summer you can experience Brand with a magnificent ensemble led by Kristoffer Olsen. The production is directed by Vidar Magnussen. He is best known to many as an actor and comedian, but in recent years has been very successful as a director both in the theater and in the Norwegian Opera.
"Brand's faith is trying to move mountains (the wall) in Fjæreheia, all accompanied by a gospel choir with music banging against the wall, this will be something completely different!"
Vidar Magnussen
Fjæreheia amphitheater is a quarry converted into a theatre, and over the years has shown performances in many different genres. The high walls and the dramatic landscape form a perfect frame around Ibsen's intense Brand. Bruddet is a short drive from Grimstad town.
Grimstad is the town where Henrik Ibsen lived in the years 1843–1850 and apprenticed to become a pharmacist's assistant. It was here that he wrote his first play Catilina.
