Led by the Minister of Culture, a time capsule was laid in the foundation of the new Ibsen Library in Skien on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, February 25, Minister of Culture and Equality Lubna Jaffery, together with Deputy County Mayor Terje Riis-Johansen and Mayor Marius Roheim Aarvold, laid a time capsule in the foundation of the new Ibsen Library in Skien. Students from Lunde Elementary School also participated in the celebration.

The time capsule contains, among other things, the Ibsen Magazine 2026, library cards, political decisions about the Ibsen Library, banknotes, current issues of local newspapers, an Ibsen cup and last year's most borrowed children's book, Max Manus .

The new library will be completed in time for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Henrik Ibsen on March 20, 2028. The building will house the city's library, the information center "Sølvåren", citizen services and tourist information, and will become a new gathering point for the residents of Skien.
