Our vision:
We will be the Ibsenbyen that challenges and excites
The vision points towards a higher ambition than just delivering experiences, entertainment and income to the region. As Henrik Ibsen's birthplace, Skien can and should aim to convey important messages for our time. We will do this by addressing the themes in Ibsen's life and works that are current and relevant in today's society - and there are many of them!
Our values:
Free thinking, wonder and expression for everyone
Our values are about turning ambition into practice. Both vision and values are guidelines - both for what we want to convey and for how we will work together.
By free thinking we mean freedom and inspiration to think across dogmas and accepted truths, tolerance for the unknown, as well as courage and willingness to share ideas, criticism and solutions that can help shape a better future.
By wonder, we mean creating an open and constructive culture for questioning, dialogue, reflection and debate around life's small and large puzzles, paradoxes and problems.
By development for all, we mean the right, freedom and inspiration to be able to live as who you are, the opportunity to develop as a person, and the opportunity to express yourself both artistically and politically without being put in danger. It also includes human development through participation, enjoyment of life, people's life and experiences.
