This week, children and young people in Skien can meet contemporary authors, illustrators and artists, when the annual Appelsinia literature festival kicks off for the 14th time.
Skien is the birthplace of Henrik Ibsen, and the city has a literary heritage to preserve. The festival, named after the fictional kingdom of Appelsinia in Henrik Ibsen's play The Builder Solness, aims to increase the love of reading among children and young people.
During Appelsinia, children and young people can get to know literature through a number of free events throughout the week. In addition, the Appelsinia Seminar is held, which brings together industry professionals from all over the country. Adults can also experience literature through two open and free evening events.
