Join us on a walk in Henrik Ibsen's childhood town, Skien.
On this hike you can use an annual pass.
Would you like to know more about Henrik Ibsen's childhood in Skien? Join the Ibsen Walk in the footsteps of Ibsen, Sundays at 1 pm from November 2 to December 14.
Here you will see where Henrik lived as a child and how the family lived an upper-class life in the hustle and bustle before his father Knud Ibsen went bankrupt. We tell about various memories that Henrik himself has written down from his childhood, and what he was like as a young boy in Skien until he moved away from home at the age of 15.
Practical information
The tour takes 45–60 minutes. The start is from the VEV museum building in Brekkeparken, Øvregate 32a. Then we walk down the Ibsen stairs towards the bust at Sorrento plass in Snipetorpgata and Skien city. If you cannot walk stairs, we can arrange to meet at the trade square by the Arkaden. This must be agreed upon when you book the tour.
We walk in the city and walk the last part of the walk up Snipetorpgata, via Tomtegata and back to the last stop in Brekkeparken. The last part of the walk is a bit steep, but it's worth the view at the top of Skien city!
Eat well at Aall Inn
PS: In the café Aall Inn in Brekkeparken you can enjoy good food and drinks, before or after the city walk. The café is open 11-16.
