Skien Municipality and the University of South-Eastern Norway invite you to the third edition of Ibsen Summer Academy.

Ibsen Summer Academy is for anyone who wants to read, write, interpret and artistically explore Ibsen's plays. In a weeklong social and creative collective, the academy offers skilled workshop leaders with an interdisciplinary approach. No prior education in literature or drama is required, but in addition to a good dose of curiosity, basic skills in English are needed.

The Summer Academy's thematic focus this year will be on Ibsen's play Ghosts. This is one of the playwright's most controversial works, due to its uncovering of unpleasant family secrets and societal hypocrisy. To this day, the play is staged all over the world.

In addition to the creative workshops, the academy also offers city walks that explore the writer's formative childhood environment. Social gatherings are also some of the academy's highlights. Ibsen Summer Academy registration fee is NOK 3,000/6,000 for students/non-students. Accommodation (Monday-Friday) and meals will be covered by the registration fee. Travel to and from Skien is covered by the participant.

Ibsen Summer Academy is now fully booked. If you still want a chance to participate in this year's programme, you can ask to be put on the waiting list to be contacted if there are any openings.
